One advantage of designing for new construction is that the designer has a blank slate upon which to create a continuous design theme which flows throughout the new home. In this home, Aretz Interiors used the color of the wood in the cabinets and table, along with a hardwood floor and light, neutral accent colors to create harmony between the kitchen and living room designs. Bright white lighting was used for dramatic effect as well as for task lighting in this kitchen. Note the similarity in shape between the lighting over the eat-in dining area, and the ceiling fan in the living room.

The solid surface countertops in a dark, contrasting color lend depth to this kitchen, while providing ample workspace, with additional counter and cabinet space in the center island and desk.
